I believe the announcement avoids the use of the word "disfellowshipped" because the Society has declared in some countries that they do not practice disfellowshipping in order to appease the authorities. Honest buggers eh?

Quick question, what does it mean when its announced that someone is no longer a Jehovah's witness?
by Joey Jo-Jo inas the title asks, does this mean that the person has been disfellowship on the basis on what the wb&ts considers as a sin or would this more like the person no longer wants to be a jw?.

Cruel Hearted People
by EXMS ini can't believe how people in the "organization" can be so cold hearted.. .
last october, i got an invitation to a friends wedding where i grew up in portland, oregon.
i now live in san diego, california.

After receiving the invitation and making contact . . . then making the trip . . . the treatment you received was disgraceful and it is entirely expected that you are hurt and more than a little pissed.
Yet . . . this is no suprise to me at all. I have had one or two inexplicable events along similar lines.
Why invite someone just to make them unwelcome? . . . the only explanation I can offer is that JW's have been so mentally warped by their beliefs that they feel they are acting in your best interests . . . shaming you into returning.
The truth of the matter is that those same beliefs have stripped them bare of any semblance of basic human decency . . . some religion eh?

Descended from animal? Explain language.
by StopTheTears inif, as evolutionists claim, all of mankind evolved from the same primitive life-source, then how did we end up with 7,000 different languages?
did one gorilla get angry at another gorilla and decide to start a new language?
i'm intrigued to know.. .

It's proof that language evolves . . . that's all. Check out the Latin language and it's offshoots if you want a better example. But why am I even having to point this out? . . . research it yourself if you are really that interested. Read the foregoing posts.
I'm not trying to prove or disprove the involvement of God . . . you can do that one

If you doubt the evolution of language . . . compare how english was spoken in your own country 100 years ago to how it is spoken today . . . or do some research and compile a list of newly introduced words over that time . . . a split second in evolutionary time.
Then you can prove the facts for yourself and not have to rely on the honesty of what others are telling/not telling you

Welcome to the Forum Anniegirl76
I restrict myself to only what can be known for sure . . . it is unreasonable of a God to expect us to place our hope in something that doesn't have some foundation in the basic truths of science . . . or to believe one side of a multi-sided debate . . . and gamble on it.
I felt I couldn't be held responsible for the 'unknown' . . . so I simply allow for it.
This does not rule out the existence of God or the divine attributes given to Christ in the gospels.
I content myself with reading the words of Christ and doing my best to apply them in my life. I do not attend a church. I am very content spiritually.
It took a while, as others have pointed out . . . so take your time . . . there's no 'hurry' as WT would have us believe.

Just had my first JW visit in almost 13 years. . . weirder than I could have thought.

I had a similar experience some months back . . .
A 'sister' contacted us in dire circumstances. She was so distraught she could barely speak. My wife and I were genuinely concerned for her. Her husband, a good friend of mine, had suicided ten years previous. She said her daughter was suicidal and that she had contemplated this option herself recently.
We corresponded a couple of times and had her at our home for the best part of a day . . . she left with our final reassurance that our door was always open.
Sadly she later advised that "jehovah" had directed her back to "his" congregation and that she would have no further contact with us . . . really sad outcome. I hope each time I read the newspaper to not find her in the death notices.
Sorry to be a wet blanket . . . but the suggestion a previous poster made to 'contact her' is one I think i will employ . . . your circumstances and progress Ilovebirthdays, seems more hopeful . . . just keep showing love and grace . . . and what will be will be

Want to quit Bible study
by confusedstudent inhi i was just looking for some advice.
i have been studying with the jw's for over a year now, and attended 2 memorials and the district/assembly conventions.
at first, and up until very recently i truly believed what i was learning was the truth.

Congratulations confusedstudent . . .
And I do feel bad. But mostly for accepting a study in the beginning. I do feel like I wasted their time,
There may well come a time when you consider wasting a JW's time to be a badge of honor

Hi Chris . . . I think confusedstudents problem is alluded to in her sign-in. I may be wrong but it appears she has been approached at a vulnerable time in her life and is now well along in the indoctrination process.
confusedstudent . . . the indoctrination you have been exposed to has the potential to create confusion . . . it is a process designed to control your mind . . . your thinking.
Confronting the indoctrination process can be good for your personal growth, and can help to undo the effects of the indoctrination you have been exposed to.
Re-read Black Sheeps first post and do the research . . . then confront your doubts and fears . . . and question their teachings meticulously . . . you will erase any doubts about their teachings and will soon be left alone.
